Baby Boy's new quilt

Look at this new quilt I made for my baby boy. It is a queen size so that he can use it in his first apartment or house, after college. No, he does not get to take it to college with him next year. The shop gets to keep it for awhile first as a sample and then I get to keep it for baby boy, until he is responsible enough to take care of it.
The story behind the quilt is, that one day I decided that
I wanted to try to figure out what to do with Brandon Mably's Burlesque Brocade in grey. I started pulling fabrics out to see about making a sample with them. A wonderful mix of Kaffe and Brandon's fabrics came together with one Jay McCarroll print thrown in.
Then as I was picking out the fabrics, Clare opened a new box of Denyse Schmidt patterns. I just loved this pattern and decided it would be perfect with the fabric I had just picked and it would make a great quilt for my son. He loves brown, ochre, orange, rust, and grey. One of my favorite shot cottons, Ginger, was the perfect setting fabric for all these earthy colors. The colors are a little off in the photo because the lime you see is actually a mustardy yellow color and the Rosette that looks a little purple in the pic is actually a lovely brown color.

I had so much fun making this quilt top and my friend Shannon, Pieceful Kwilter, did a great job quilting it with her topo meander pattern.

You can get a bundle of the print fabrics at the shop and can pick your own solid to go with them.
